Title: CCM VERAX LAUNCH - WEDNESDAY, 07 NOVEMBER 2001

I wish to inform you that on Wednesday, 07 November 2001, CCM Verax will commence its activities.

CCM Verax contends that Called to Common Mission (CCM), the ecumenical agreement between the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the Episcopal Church in the USA, is arguably the greatest act of deception ever cultivated by an ecclesial denomination in the history of North America.

Please find enclosed an informational bulletin which provides further details on CCM Verax and how one can access the CCM Verax web site.

With the advent of the Thanksgiving holiday time, the launch of CCM Verax might make a timely story.

INFORMATION BULLETIN

WHAT:

CCM Verax is a new organization specifically founded to advance the truth about Called to Common Mission, the ecumenical agreement between the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the Episcopal Church in the USA. According to CCM Verax, Called to Common Mission is arguably the greatest act of deception ever cultivated by an ecclesial denomination in the history of North America.

WHEN:

On Wednesday, 7th November 2001, CCM Verax will commence its activities and will introduce its presence on the Internet (see Internet URL above).

WHY:

Through Called to Common Mission (CCM) Lutherans in the ELCA have been wrongly led to believe that their historic statements of faith (Lutheran Confessions) express the desire of the Lutheran Reformers to have a church analogous to Anglican (Episcopalian) churches. In other words, the Lutheran Confessions supposedly mention the Reformers' desire to have bishops in "historic succession" or an "historic episcopate." This false assertion has been repeatedly used by ELCA officials to secure the passage of CCM.

Research published in 1995 shows that this assertion is incorrect. Professor Michael Root, now at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio and an ELCA CCM drafter, admits to knowing of this research since 1995, four years before the passage of CCM by the ELCA in 1999. Professor Root further admits that the Lutheran Confessions do not mention "episcopal succession." So, why was CCM written contrary to known history?

Furthermore, the unity prescribed by CCM obliges the ELCA to become part of an ecclesial structure founded on a certain form of episcopalian religious intolerance of the kind which drove the Pilgrim Fathers (and mothers and children) to seek refuge in the New World. ELCA officials have repeatedly ignored this element of CCM while simultaneously renouncing other forms of intolerance along the lines of race, class, gender, etc.

HOW:

By making correct information available to the public via the Internet and through a developing network of volunteers, CCM Verax hopes to make the membership of the ELCA aware of the nature and of the extent of the deception which has facilitated the passage and implementation of CCM.

EXPLORE THE FACTS

On the CCM Verax web site (http://www.ccmverax.org) one will find the following pages by topic:

** CCM - THE GRAND DECEPTION = Receive a synopsis of the main issues involved.

** ON BEING LUTHERAN = Read how Luther changed his name to represent his Reformation experience and how truth makes one Lutheran.

** LUTHER ON LIES = Refresh your awareness of Luther's thought on veracity in the church.

** LEADING THE LIE = See how ELCA leaders are or are not reacting to the research regarding the grand deception in CCM.

** CCM - A KILLING LIE = Examine how "historic episcopacy" makes the ELCA an institution of "historic hypocrisy."

** THE TRINITY TRAGEDY = See what efforts are to be made to seek the removal of Professor Michel Root from the faculty of Trinity Lutheran Seminary.

** CHRIST WHO? = Read how ELCA's leaders have apparently abandoned the Reformation tenet of Christ alone.

In the course of time, other topics will be added to the CCM Verax web site.

CCM Verax Administration:

At this point in time, CCM Verax is administered by Pastor Mark D. Menacher. Pastor Menacher is a graduate of Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. He holds a Ph.D in historical and systematic theology from the University of Manchester, England. While in the United Kingdom, he served a pastorate in the Lutheran Church in Great Britain (LCiGB). In addition to his pastoral duties, Pastor Menacher served on the LCiGB's Executive Committee and also served as the LCiGB's ecumenical officer. Pastor Menacher's wife is from Wales, and she also happens to be an Anglican (Episcopalian).
