Dear President Ramseth,
Re: Arrest the Trinity Tragedy
I have read Dr. Mark Menacher's letter (26th June 2001) and his accompanying research paper which have served as a complaint against the unsatisfactory scholarship of Professor Michael Root in relation to Called to Common Mission (CCM), the ecumenical agreement between the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Episcopal Church in the USA. I have also read your comments in response to the complaint, and I am dismayed that you seem unwilling or unable to address the matter.
In light of these circumstances, I wish to inform you that I will offer my active support to the CCM Verax endeavour to see the removal or resignation of Professor Michael Root from Trinity Lutheran Seminary.
Finally, I find it quite alarming that Lutheran professors at the seminary, who oppose CCM on biblical or Lutheran doctrinal grounds, may experience personal or professional intimidation or harassment for teaching Lutheran doctrine. If Lutheran doctrine is now unacceptable at Trinity Lutheran Seminary, then perhaps the credentials of the seminary need to be reviewed.
Yours sincerely,
